Bolstering their level of football expertise, ESPN has added Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice to their list of analysts for the coming NFL season. He will appear on several of the network’s shows, including NFL Live.
Jerry Rice played 20 (count ’em – TWENTY) seasons in the NFL, spending the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He retired after the 2004 season and was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. No other receiver in league history accomplished what Jerry has. He is the NFL’s ALL-TIME leading receiver, having amassed 22,895 total yards and 197 touchdowns. Bear in mind, that Terrell Owens follows him with 15,934 yards. Who’s gonna catch the guy?
Look for Rice on set beginning September 15th.
Happy days could be here again for basketball fans in the ATL, as the Atlanta Hawks sell a majority stake in the franchise to Alex Meruelo, a Los Angeles area-based businessman.
According to Bloomberg News, Meruelo, owner of The Meruelo Group, will gain control of the Hawks as well as Philips Arena….
This will be the series premier for LaLa’s Full Court Life. The cameras follow LaLa as she adjusts to life back in the Big Apple, managing her career and family. For an athlete (and in this case, Carmelo Anthony), playing in a city where you were raised can be challenging and rewarding. LaLa will experience that first hand as she works at pleasing their families with perks. She is the “First Lady,” though so I know she will work it out.
The Anthony’s moved to NYC last year after Carmelo was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks. It looks like Lala and Chauncey Billups’ wife Piper will have some issues to iron out. I can’t wait!

The T.O.Show is returning for its 3rd season. Obviously, Team Terrell is in for a few roller coaster rides this season. Does dissension exist amongst the ranks? Are they outgrowing one another? Will Monique jump ship? What will become of Terrell’s football career? Is he going broke? Are Kita and Joe getting married? There are tons of questions to be answered.

No Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony would be complete without a little bravado, some tears and a plethora of thank you’s, but Saturday’s ceremony will go down in history as one of the best.
The 2011 class included Ed Sabol, founder of NFL Films, DE Richard Dent, TE Shannon Sharpe, RB Marshall Faulk, Washington Redskins LB Chris Hanburger, CB Deion Sanders, and posthumously, Rams LB Les Richter.
The ceremony was held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in Canton, Ohio. ESPN’s Chris Berman served as “MC.” Each inductee was presented by someone special of their choice (for example, Faulk and Sanders were presented by their agents) via pre-taped video segment, then they were met on stage by that person to unveil their busts. Ahem, I’ll come back to the busts later….
Making fun of oneself can be seen as a sign of great confidence. Making fun of ones own professional sports team, though? Is it a sign of desperation? Insanity?
At Jones Beach Theater, New York Knicks owner James Dolan offered up a humorously self-deprecating performance of a song titled “Fix The Knicks,” where he tells a story of being criticized about his team and being begged to “fix” it.
And to think, he was warming up for Aretha Franklin. *blank stare*

Industry Rule No. 1: Don’t touch the fans. Somehow though, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley missed the memo.
Word came down the pipeline that Beasley was being heckled by a fan and didn’t take too kindly to it.
During summer league play at Dyckman Park in New York, a heckler took things a little too far and reportedly Beasley reacted by giving dude the “mush” to the face.

Remember their initial commercial campaigns? “WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE!” Admittedly, I wasn’t to keen on it at first, but they are on to something great, as evidenced by the athletes they’ve signed on as endorsers this year.
In this latest commercial, “Footsteps,” you see Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton, track and field diva Monica Hargrove and future NFL Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Ray Lewis.
