Five Thoughts on ESPN’s The Fab Five

    ONE

The Fab Five documentary on ESPN, although not a part of the original 30 for 30 series, was one of the best. Hands down. Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King, are sports iconic in the maaner in which they impacted and changed the game of basketball.

    TWO

Jalen Rose is a media BEAST. He continues to impress. Some may not like what he said, nor the way he said it, but he spoke from the heart, and I respect that. Unfortunately, he may go misunderstood.

Taking On Tyson – Episode 2 Recap

In the second episode of Taking On Tyson, Mike and his team/loft, Tyson’s Corner, meet his competitors for the pigeon races – Helder Rodrigues and Joe Green.

In a sign of playful intimidation, Mike gives Helder the once over glance. Its a funny moment if you catch it.

Rodrigues is a 20 year old from New Jersey and one of the youngest racers on the scene. He is a full time “A” student, runs a repair shop, and loves his birds. His loft is named The Motley Crew.

Joe Green, a city maintenance man, who also grew up in the same Brownsville (Brooklyn) neighborhood as Tyson, has been racing pigeons for 25 years. He is a proven winner and is considered the favorite. His loft is named The 3 Amigos.

Nets – Knicks Games with Jay-Z for Charity

New York – based charity organization, charitybuzz, is hosting an auction of major sports and entertainment proportion.

For an estimated value of $20,000, Jay-Z will accompany two guests courtside an NBA game.

While details of the auction indicate that it will be a Knicks game, my insider tells me that Jay-Z will actually be hosting his guests at TWO New Jersey Nets games, which makes more sense because he is part owner of the team.

One game will be held on the Nets home court March 30th at Prudential Center, and the other at Madison Sqaure Garden, April 8th.

The current bid stands at $26,000.

The proceeds will benefit the Steven Gaynor School, which is a non-profit, teaching young children with learning differences.

Details of the auction can be found HERE.

Derrick Rose Covers ESPN The Mag’s Style Report Issue

I opened my mailbox today, and what greeted me? This great cover of Chicago Bulls point guard, Derrick Rose on ESPN The Magazine’s annual Style Report issue. Dare I say, sexy?

I dare.

Rose’s on-court performance, quiet leadership, and his obvious polish and maturity are pushing his baby-faced persona to the back of the line.

Chris Bosh

Headphone Hoodies? Russell Athletic AUS Says Yes

Russell Athletic Australia has crerated and launched a hooded sweatshirt with built-in headphones that can connect with your MP3 player. Genius or silly? Watch the vid and judge for yourself.

I love it! If they add a secure, dedicated pocket for the music device, I’m completely sold.

When will these hoodies hit the States and more importantly, which star athlete(s) will endorse them first? Cam Newton? Blake Griffin?
