When I think of Ben Wilson, Langston Hughes’ poem, A Dream Deferred comes to mind.
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
A great deal of attention has been paid to athletes who mismanage their finances and/or fall on hard times after the playing days are done.
Penny Hardaway is not that person.
Perhaps it began with a sound, unprecedented rookie contract in 1993, and an enviable Nike contract for that time period. Whatever the case, Hardaway has made grown man decisions about his finances, investments, and philanthropy, all of which make for one solid NBA legend.
In an assumed act of frustration and angst at the New York Knicks‘ poor performance in their first-round playoff match and Monday night’s loss to the Miami Heat, Amar’e Stoudemire decided to punch a fire extinguisher box on his way to the locker room at AmerianAirlines Arena, injuring his left hand.
I have but one simple questions? WHO DOES THAT?

The suspensions are rolling in pro sports today.
First, Rajon Rondo gets suspended by the NBA, and now Bud Selig and Major League Baseball have decided that Detroit Tigers outfielder Demon Young should meet the same fate in the form of a seven-game “vacay.”
As expected, Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended one game by the NBA league office for making physical contact with a ref.
In Sundays first-round playoff game against the Atlanta Hawks, Rondo verbally challenged referee Marc Davis (for which he received a technical foul) before taking it an ill-advised step further and bumping Davis with his chest. Rondo was immediately ejected.
