Boston Marathon explosions claim lives and injure dozens

The Boston Marathon ended tragically Monday, when two simultaneous explosions occurred at the finish line on Boylston Street, killing and injuring spectators and sending the crowd and runners into a panicked frenzy.

Early reports indicate two people have died and 23 people were injured, some very seriously.

Police and fire, and emergency medical personnel who were already present because of the race, acted quickly to secure and clear the area and tend to the victims.

At a press conference, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis led a press conference that revealed the FBI, the National Guard and the state police department have been brought into the investigation.

Another undetonated explosive device is reported to have been found at a local hotel as officials continue their search for more clues.

Citizens and visitors are being advised to remain safely indoors and to avoid congregating in groups.

Today is Patriots’ Day in Boston. It is an annual celebration in relation to the American Revolutionary War.

It should also be noted that the Boston Red Sox were hosting the Tampa Bay Rays on MLB Jackie Robinson Day at Fenway Park while all of this was taking place.

Why these explosive devices were placed and set off on this day, at this particular event is unknown as there are no motives or suspect(s) at this time.

President Obama is being briefed continuously by local, state and federal officials and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington has been closed as a precaution.

I understand that no one is perfect, but some people have seriously got to find something better to do with their lives. Bombing a marathon? I mean, really though. Watch how the suspect’s reasoning be of another Universe.
