Matt Forte signs new deal with Bears
Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears have reportedly come to agreement on a four-year, $32 million deal.
Talk about toeing the line.
According to the Chicago Tribune, if this deal didn’t get done today by 3 PM, CST, Forte would have been “subjected to the franchise tag.”
Luckily, Chicago Bears brass, Forte, and his representation all new that a franchise tag and the one-year deal that came with it were not going to cut mustard with Bears faithful. You don’t risk losing a back like Forte, especially when he boasts career stats of 4,233 rushing yards and 29 total touchdowns.
Now, Forte can join his teammates in Bourbonnais, IL for camp — on time.
The Chicago Bears drafted Matt Forte in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft.
