NBA Regular Season Will Be Short Two Weeks Of Play

Hours and hours of recent meetings between the NBA players union and the NBA owners has resulted in the CANCELLATION of the first two weeks of the season.

Commissioner David Stern made the announcement this evening, setting off a bevy of disappointing comments across social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

The players are going hard. I love it. They are cohesive and remaining true to their convictions. At the urging of NBAPA President Derek Fisher some have taken to their Twitter accounts in the same vain as NFL players did during their lockout, with the message “Let Us Play.”

The issue on the table is the (BRI) Basketball Related Income. In the last Collective Bargaining Agreement, the players held a 57% stake. Now, the owners want a 50-50 split (an improvement over their initial request of 47%). The players want more like 53%, and now there is a stalemate.

Two weeks can turn into four, then eight, then 16. Can you imagine???

There are far too many fans who don’t want to imagine that.

Did the League forget that they ended last season on a natural high? End this lockout for momentum’s sake.

Give the people what they want before you lose them.
