Luther Campbell Says Nevin Shapiro Can Kiss His A**

Luther Campbell

Luther Campbell, affectionately known as “Uncle Luke” in many circles, has not taken kindly to being referenced as a booster by former University of Miami booster Nevin Shapiro in a recent Yahoo Sports investigative piece.

Campbell told Shapiro to “kiss my ass”.

In the report, Shapiro, now serving federal time for a multi-million dollar ponzi scheme, says of Campbell,

Luther Campbell was the first uncle who took care of players before I got going. His role was diminished by the NCAA and the school, and someone needed to pick up that mantle. That someone was me. He was ‘Uncle Luke’, and I became ‘Little Luke.’

Campbell took to his Miami New Times blog this morning to make it very clear that there is no comparison between he and Nevin Shapiro. Campbell states that he has “never been a UM booster,” but admits to being the Hurricane’s “biggest fan in the 80’s.”

Campbell asserts that he never paid players, and for the record no one has ever proven otherwise, so I can understand his level of anger with the Yahoo piece and Shapiro’s allegations.

He pulls no punches with Shapiro, referring to him as a “jilted groupie” and a “sketchy motherf***er.”

It is unclear just how far-reaching these allegations by Shapiro will be to the Miami football program, its former and current players, and the NCAA overall, but you can best believe Uncle Luke wants no part of any of it, and he has officially put everyone on notice of that fact.
