Is Eli Manning Delusional Or Is He Really That Good?

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning wants you to know that he is amongst the elite at his position.

Let’s examine this. What constitutes an elite QB in the NFL?

Is it the number of Super Bowl wins or Pro Bowl appearances one has attained? What about completions and touchdowns thrown? What is his level of athleticism? Would you consider a quarterbacks’s personality and level of confidence?

All of these play into how successful and productive a QB can be, and Eli Manning can lay claim to several of these “requirements,” but is he considered one of the best?

Manning feels he is on par with Tom Brady, and maybe he is. I haven’t seen it, though. Eli has one ring, which is huge in the grand scheme of a QB’s career, as most never earn one. But, on a top tier level, Tom Brady has three, and has a strong chance to obtain another this season. Manning? Not so much.

He threw 25 interceptions in 2010. The Giants ended the season with a 10-6 record and still didn’t make the playoffs. They also lost some significant veteran manpower, most notably, wide receiver Steve Smith. Additionally, the team didn’t make any huge splashes in the free agency pool as did their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles (who ironically signed Steve Smith).

Eli Manning is good, but he’s no one man show. He will have an uphill battle this season proving to everyone that he is as good as Brady or his brother, Peyton.

They are, without question, elite.
