Taking On Tyson – Episode 5 Recap

Its the first time in my life where I’ve been in a relationship where a woman comes before my pigeons.

Responsiblity seems to be the message of Episode 5 of Taking on Tyson. KiKi, Tyson’s wife, and their adorable daughter Milan are introduced as the family spends quality time together in their Las Vegas home.

Its about five days until the Lyndhurst Club Memorial, the race before the season ending big daddy of them all, but Tyson has a business commitment – to fly to Scotland for a celebrity appearance. With his family in tow, he headlines a luncheon where he answers questions from the attendees. Tyson admittedly reveals that these types of events are what helps to pay the bills and he is obliged and honored to engage his fans.

Meanwhile, back in New Jersey, the final training sessions are taking place, and Team Tyson member Mario is left all alone to care for and race the birds in the LCM.

The youngest personality on the show, Helder Rodrigues has his own setbacks, the main one being his father. If Helder doesn’t devote more time and effort to his school work, his father will take the keys to his coop.

Team coach Vinnie Torrie and his girlfriend Lynn (who also races pigeons) help Helder out by test flying his birds along with theirs, so he can concentrate on his studies.

The night before the race, all the teams (inclusing rival Joe Green from the Bronx) gather at the Lyndhurst club to deliver their six chosen birds for registration.

Race day presents strong winds and uncertainty for all teams because the weather could affect the pigeon’s performance.

In the end, Team Tyson’s Corner finished in the top 2% of all competitors and Mike Tyson returned from Europe to great news.

Tomorrow, I’ll recap the final episode.
