Beyonce sings National Anthem, live, for media in New Orleans
Beyonce quietly took the heat from her lip-syncing, presidential inauguration “scandal.” She neither confirmed, nor denied what was being alleged. But, eight days later, Mrs. Carter had her say in front of a robust amount of media, in New Orleans, ahead of her much-anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance this coming Sunday.
Beyonce and Pepsi held a press conference, which began by her singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” live and a capella — a matter-of-fact way to shut the mouths and correct the side-eyes of her critics.
Needless to say, she crushed it, practically dared anyone to ask questions, then admitted to singing along with a pre-recorded track during President Obama’s inauguration, and concluded by assuring those present that she would in fact be singing live during the Pepsi Halftime Show.
To be exact, she said,
I will absolutely be singing live. This is what I was born to do.
