Mike and KiKi Tyson open up to Jamie Foster Brown
Mike Tyson and his wife Lakiha Tyson, better known as “KiKi” have been married since the summer of 2009, and in a candid interview with Jamie Foster Brown of Sister 2 Sister Magazine, KiKi shares the story of their meeting, her past legal troubles, Mike’s career, and their home life and future plans.
For excerpts from the interview, advance the ball…
On how she and Mike connected:
Jamie: How did you meet Mike Tyson? What attracted you to him?
Kiki: My father — he’s actually my stepfather but I call him my dad — he knew Mike. I spoke to him on the phone when I was like, 15 years old. Then we really met when I was about 18 years old, when he was supposed to fight in Atlantic City…. Instantly I was attracted to him. Obviously I was a teenager and this is a guy who is on top of the world. He had that swagger about him and everything…. We would see each other in passing for years and just be kinda like, “Hello.”
On Mike’s one-man show:
JFB: Tell me about the show. How did you all come up with the show and what is the name of it?
KT: Okay. The show is Called Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth – Live On Stage….
On the death of Mike’s daughter, Exodus:
JFB: How did you all get through Mike losing his daughter?
KT: Honestly, I never had the pleasure of meeting her…. although my daughter never met her and (my daughter) knows that she’s an angel, and that’s her sister…. The best thing Mike can do in her memory is to live and to live well…. He has his moments, absolutely. Like, there’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about her….
KiKi also speaks in detail with Jamie about her time spent in federal prison and the events that lead to her sentencing.
Mike Tyson’s one-man show ran as a limited engagement in Las Vegas this past April. There are currently no further dates scheduled. Take your show on the road, Mike!
