VIDEO: He Got Game Flashback, Jesus Plays Jake One on One

It’s always fascinating to watch one-on-one match ups, but one between Ray Allen and Denzel Washington make it better.

In football, Darrell Green was not to be taken lightly, and Deion Sanders against Andre Rison gave us good memories. Present day, watching Darrelle Revis or Nnamdi Asomugha get it in against an opponent is always a must.

Of course, in basketball, Michael Jordan, Penny Hardaway, Gary Payton and Allen Iverson offered some of the best one-on-one entertainment around, and currently, I don’t know too many people who want to see Kevin Durant head up.

But, on the big screen, the battle royale was a family affair between the Shuttlesworths. Jake and Jesus. It was a test of wills, a battle for respect, and the ultimate payback.

Advance the ball to watch the vid:

I love this movie, and not only because it stars two of the finest men to walk the earth (Ray Allen and Denzel Washington).

Ok, maybe that’s the primary reason, but I digress. It’s a great flick! Yes, Spike Lee can drag a story line a bit too far (Jake’s temporary release from prison,) but the glimpse He Got Game gives into the recruiting process and varying influences and situations a young athlete can face when making a decision on where to attend college is worth its weight in gold.

If you’ve never seen it, you’re deprived. Netflix awaits you.

The movie cast also includes former athletes Jim Brown, Rick Fox, Travis Best, Walter McCarty, and John Wallace. Lonette McKee, Rosario Dawson and Hill Harper have key roles.
