Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher is mourning the loss of his mother, Lavoyda Lenard. Lenard, 51, passed away suddenly Monday and Urlacher left the team to be with his family.
My mother, Lavoyda, unexpectedly passed away Monday at her home in Texas,” Urlacher said in a statement released by the team Wednesday. “My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest. This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you.
Brian Urlacher has two siblings, an older sister, Sheri, and Casey a younger brother, Casey.
It is unknown when Brian will return to Chicago to join his teammates and resume play, but that’s so unimportant right now.
The Chicago Bears visit the New Orleans Saints, Sunday, 12 noon CT.
