In memory of Michael Jackson (today is the anniversary of his passing), I came upon this rare footage of he and his brothers singing the “Star-Spangled Banner” to open the 1970 World Series between the Orioles and Reds in Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium.
In the t.v. movie The Jacksons: An American Dream, the boys learn the anthem on the plane ride to Cincinnati. I’m not sure how accurate that is, but if its true, the Jackson 5 nailed it.
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Cincinnati Reds in that series. Notable players were Frank Robinson, Pete Rose, and Johnny Bench. Brooks Robinson was the MVP.
