Faith Hill’s NBC Sunday Night Football Theme Is Old

Once again, Faith Hill has been chosen to record the theme song, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” for NBC and their Sunday Night Football broadcast.

*sigh*

Faith Hill was hot in years one and two as the pre-game intro personality. She’s an undeniable talent, and I’m sure throngs of fans find her easy on the eye, but, by year three, I was expecting a fresh approach for the intro. Last year it was more of the same and now, its overkill.

I understand the concept of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” but the NFL and its broadcast partner’s unwillingness to diversify and refresh the on-air entertainment it disheartening.

Considering a league whose players are about 65% African-American, and whose fans are increasingly multi-cultural and increasingly female, it might behoove them to move the needle a bit and give entertainers of various musical genre’s an opportunity to perform the song.

I imagine I’d be pushing my luck to request a break from Hank Williams too.

What suggestions would you give NBC for a new Sunday Night Football theme song performer?

I just think faith hill looks wooden while singing what should be an anthem for football viewers. It should get you excited to see some football, not wondering why they chose her, again! I don’t like Hank Williams mr to listen to but at least that song sounded like everybody was ready to have a good time.

I think she’ll be around for years to come, though. She’s a safe bet. Apple pie.

Get someone new!   Didn’t Pink do it one year? She was great!

Yes, Pink once performed the opening. I think someone new would be refreshing. Faith is probably under a long contract, though.

Thanks for checking out the blog!
