English race car driver Dan Wheldon won his second Indianapolis 500 (the first in 2005) on Saturday, supplanting rookie driver JR Hildebrand who lost his lead upon crashing his car into the wall.
In his post race interview Wheldon became emotional when mentioning his mother, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and he thanked the Alzheimer’s Associaton whom he represented today in honor of his mom.
Dan Wheldon was driving for Brian Herta Autosport. Included in the teams sponsors were William Rast and Firestone.
