32nd Annual Sports Emmy Nominations Short on Women

The nominees for the 32nd Annual Sports Emmy Awards were recently announced. Familiar and popular names like Chris Berman and Charles Barkley were front and center, and shows like Hard Knocks and E:60 are all up for consideration, but I could not help but notice that there was no outright female representation listed.

Certainly there are females amongst the broadcast and production teams for some of these shows, but the glaring omission of sports professionals like Hannah Storm, Pam Oliver, Suzy Kolber, Rachel Nichols and Lisa Salters is to great to ignore.

Sports reporting would be incomplete without the contributions of these dynamic personalities. Correct if I am wrong, but I didnt even see a CATEGORY for their jobs.

Shame on the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. I’ll have my eye on you next year to see if you decided to get it right.
