Javaris Crittenton, a former NBA player, was indicted Tuesday on murder charges stemming from a 2011 Atlanta shooting that claimed the life of 22-year-old mother of four, Jullian Jones.
The shooting, a drive-by, was in retaliation for a robbery in which Crittenton was the victim. Jones was not the intended target.

The 12- count indictment charges 25-year-old Javaris Crittenton and his cousin Douglas Gamble with Murder, Felony Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity in connection with the 2011 murder of Julian Jones and the attempted murder of another man.
The attempted murder charge stems from a previously unsuccessful attempt to shoot at a man believed to be responsible for the robbery.
These are very serious charges, and while its safe to say Crittenton’s pro basketball days are behind him, his future is now in the hands of the courts and his freedom is in question.
Javaris Crittenton was a first-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2007 and also played for the Washington Wizards (where he and former teammate Gilbert Arenas had a gun incident in the team’s locker room,) and the Charlotte Bobcats before heading overseas to China, then returning to the States to join a D-League team.
